Husky Roundup: Group Experience (1.5 hours)

A welcoming, family-hosted northern experience designed for schools, corporate groups, celebrations, and gatherings of all kinds. This group experience reflects our values: exceptional dog care, eco-conscious operation, cultural respect, accessibility, and genuine northern hospitality from our family to yours.

Bring your group together for a warm and authentic introduction to dog sledding, northern culture, and our amazing team of Alaskan Huskies. The Husky Roundup: Group Experience offers the same dog-centered, personal approach as our small-group tours, but with a thoughtful layout tailored specifically for larger parties seeking connection, comfort, and shared adventure.

Keystone Sled Dogs - 2 Mendenhall Court on, Old Alaska Hwy, Mendenhall Landing, YT Y1A 6M7, Canada

Welcome & Orientation

Your visit begins in our heated welcome cabin—a cozy space to gather, dress for the trail, and settle in out of the elements on colder days. We’ll start with a friendly greeting, land acknowledgement, safety briefing, and an introduction to our compassionate dog-care philosophy that guides everything we do.

Meet the Dogs & Learn the Culture

Next, you’ll head into the dog yard to meet the true stars of the experience. Guests learn about our huskies’ rich history, how northern communities have relied on sled dogs for generations, and what responsible, ethical dog care looks like in a modern kennel.

Groups will rotate smoothly between two core activities, ensuring everyone stays engaged and comfortable throughout the visit:

Trail Ride in a Full-Curl Wooden Trapper’s Toboggan

Enjoy a 20-minute trail ride in one of our authentic full-curl wooden trappers toboggans—a smooth, stable sled that comfortably seats 3–4 guests at a time. Pulled by an enthusiastic team of Alaskan Huskies, this ride offers a meaningful glimpse into traditional northern travel and life on the trail.

Fireside Gathering Under the Timber-Frame Pavilion

While one group enjoys the trail, the rest of your party can relax around a crackling campfire beneath our beautiful timber-frame pavilion. Guests can enjoy the atmosphere, ask questions, interact with the dogs and our staff, and explore stories of mushing culture and life in the North.

Post-Run Dog Care & Snacks

When everyone has had their turn on the sled, the group comes together to help with post-run dog care. Guests can offer the dogs well-deserved snacks and take part in gentle cool-down routines - a hands-on, heartwarming moment that embodies the respect and partnership at the core of our kennel philosophy.

Optional Extended Time for Special Events

Groups booking for birthday parties, team-building sessions, leadership messages, or special presentations may request additional time - we can extend your experience to allow for these activities either outdoors under cover of the pavilion or inside our heated guest welcome cabin. Additional time creates space for reflection, connection, and ceremony without feeling rushed, and can be added to your booking upon request.

Optional Hot Meal Add-On

Enhance your group’s visit with a hearty hot meal served fireside in the pavilion. Enjoy a delicious burger, a bowl of warm, home-style soup, and choice of hot beverages—coffee, tea, or rich hot chocolate. This add-on is the perfect complement to your winter experience, offering comfort, connection, and a taste of northern hospitality.

Cancellation Policy

Your safety — and the well-being of our dogs — will always guide our decisions. While we do our very best to run every tour as planned, there are moments when conditions in the North simply aren’t safe for guests or the team.

Weather & Operational Cancellations

Keystone Sled Dogs may cancel your tour if weather or other circumstances make travel unsafe, including:

  • Extreme temperatures: below –35°C or above +15°C
  • Unsafe trail conditions: such as ice, overflow, poor visibility, or any hazards that compromise safe travel (as assessed by our experienced guides)
  • Other unforeseen circumstances that prevent us from operating safely or responsibly

We make every effort to avoid cancelling a tour unless it’s absolutely necessary. The best time to enjoy your dog-sledding experience is almost always the date and time you originally booked, and we know many guests travel far and look forward to this adventure for a long time. Our team will do everything reasonably possible to ensure your tour can go ahead as planned.

If we must cancel, you’ll be offered:

  • A full credit to rebook at another mutually convenient date and time, or

  • A full refund if rescheduling isn’t possible within a reasonable timeframe

Guest-Initiated Cancellations

  • 100% refund or full credit when cancelled 7 days or more before your tour

  • 50% refund when cancelled between 48 hours and 7 days before your tour

  • No refunds for cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled start time

Northern travel is shaped by weather, the land, and the wellbeing of our dogs — and we’re committed to ensuring your experience is safe, meaningful, and memorable from start to finish.
